Y/W Standards Night

We gathered all the formal dresses in the neighborhood and had a special night with the girls. They had such fun choosing the dress they felt beautiful in and spent extra time primping together. Watching each beehive walk around feeling like a princess in her first fancy dress was priceless. Afterwards, we met in the RS room with light background music and they each modeled their dress as our YW president read a special note to them from their parents, finishing up with they were each a daughter of God. Ashlee gave an important talk about the importance of being beautiful on the inside. As much fun as it is to dress up, we must always do the things we can do to grow beautiful on the inside, by reaching out and helping others. We finished up with yummy parfaits of cut up chocolate cake, instant chocolate pudding, coolwhip and crushed Symphony candy bars. It was a special night that was easy to plan.

Primary Pencils

Of course a kids favorite treat on their Bday is candy. Actually big people too! But a nifty pencil or scripture marking pencil comes in a close second, especially when presented in such a fun way! Make a bunch at one time and hand them out all year. Design can easily be changed for any church organization. May the celebrating begin! YW Cooking 101 Night

It has been fun to focus some Y/W activity nights on basic cooking... but this activity would be equally as good for the YM and Achievement Day girls or even new moms in RS. Our Laurel's learned how to make a basic homemade meal of chicken fingers & oven fries, tossed salad and chocolate malts. As hard as it is to believe, many are leaving home in the next couple of years and these basic skills will come in handy... skills that I sure didn't have when I married (my own fault, my poor sweetheart as I practiced on him). I was so surprise how many girls have never touched raw chicken or cooked a meal... Ramen noodles and mac & cheese do not count! Their future family will thank us one day :) It was a fun night and something I think we will do again soon. Plan food... they will come!

Cleaning Out

Katie wanted to beat me to the cleaning out and organizing of her work area at Pebbles. She is right. She knows me well. I begin in one area and will work quickly through the store until I get to her area. It's by far the most messiest area. Aletta, our bookkeeper calls it a hazardous hard hat area and rubs her forehead. To Katie & I, it is just a creative mess. I understand it. It comes with the job description of Pebbles Creative Coordinator... which she does very well. Today Ransom came with Katie and helped tackle some of the mess. That's very true love.

A Little TLC for Orem

The past few days have been a whirlwind of activity as we make plans for the future with a better focus. I am planning on putting more time & energy into the stores and will either work everyone relentlessly or drive them all crazy, or perhaps into hiding when they hear my voice. Count on the the latter one. I am loud, tenacious and will keep going and going long after everyone says, 'let's stop for the night.' Thank you Larry & Ashlee XOXOXO.

I have been looking at our Orem store with fresh eyes and am eager to quickly freshen it up... tonight Larry & Ashlee worked outside and trimmed bushes, mowed the lawn, edged and weeded. The shop looks more loved and tomorrow morning when we power wash it and sweep the parking lot, it will be even more so. I tackled a few of the inside areas, ready for more! We are all excited to works towards the next phase of 'Memory Keeping' with new products and services at Pebbles.

Ice Blocking

I feel blessed to serve in the YW program... a lively group of girls I love! The Young Women and their Dad's got together for ice blocking at Cascade Park. It was great fun, made even better with their Dad's company. All you need is a block of ice, a towel or rug to sit on and a grassy hill. Try it before the cold weather sets in and tell us how much fun you have :)
