Holly Berries and Peppermint : Garlands

This morning I am so excited to share with you two of our latest Christmas creations. First, our Holly Berry garland has a crafty feel with a fun and refreshing color pallet. It measures 16 feet long and comes with holly leaves made from green, light green, small and large polka dot cardstock (not shown in this picture).

Second, our peppermint garland. At 20 feet, it drapes easily around a tree, mantel, or even light fixtures. Its' small circles give it a dainty feel, which compliments other decor without being gaudy. It also layers beautifully. 

Can you believe that it is already December 3rd? Have you started counting down they days yet? I've decided to wait for it to snow. For me, it just doesn't feel like Christmas without it! So, here I sit, stuck in a holiday twilight zone...Hurry Up Snow! :)

DIY : Spider Garland

Wouldn't you like to have some of these guys hanging around for Halloween?  Our Spider Garland is way too cute to be scary and will add a nice whimsical touch to your Halloween decoration. Surprisingly, they are very easy to make! Simply sew a straight line (we recommend using black thread), making sure to keep the stitching between each spider to approximately 1".  It is always helpful to practice first on a piece of scratch paper to check your sewing machine's tension.

Keep in mind: stitching will not always be perfect and the spiders will not always be evenly spaced...but this just adds to its' charm!  I think you will have lots of fun with this garland!

Easy DIY Kit | Pre-made Garland

I would love to have the time and space to create more garlands.  They are so fun to make and really add a personal touch to any space.  I have already about 50 of my DIY garlands hanging up around the store...okay, that is an exaggeration.  We don't have that many!

This dot garland drapes beautifully!  And, it is so easy, you don't even need a tutorial.  Just find a sewing machine and black thread, sew in a straight line, adding in dots every half inch or so.  Of course, the stitching may not be perfect...but I think that adds to its' charm. Don't you?

You could make this garland in many different color patterns.  This one is perfect for fall.  But, change the colors up a bit and you could have one for spring, summer...endless possibilities!

Onesie Die Cuts

These darling new onesie die cuts we've created are so cute!  My original inspiration for these was baby shower invitations.  However, creativity took over (as it usually does) and their potential just blossomed.  Hang them on some Bakers twine with mini clothes pins to create a sweet little decorative garland.  Or, have them cut out as a single-sheet die cut, then print the party information right on the front.  I also think they would make a perfect invitation for a spring birthday party.  The best news, however, is the price!  As it is with all of our die cuts, they are only cost the price of the paper, plus .15¢ per shape, no matter the size.  This makes for a quick turn around and that is still super affordable! You are also free to pick the die cut shape / size and paper for your specific project.

Summer Garland Tutorial

Really!  Summertime should be this easy as this garland.  Simply glue glitter letters to banners. Adhere pop up squares to single round sun die cut, then place on opposite sun die cut. Press to secure. Thread twine through holes in banners. Attach sun to banner in desired place with clothes pin.  Truly, this assembly is a walk in the park.  And thanks to American Crafts, these letters just sparkle!

With summer peeking just around the corner, my thoughts have turned to school-free days filled with swimming, watermelon, flip-flops and lemonade stands.  These thoughts must have been the inspiration for our new Summertime Garland.  This super easy garland is made with paper from American Crafts.  All glitter letters are made with their beautiful Duo Tone Glitter Paper.  The flags are made with their Dark Kraft Paper.  I can't think of a better way to welcome kids home from the last day of school than with a celebratory garland like this! Perfect way to kick off summer.

Blossom Garland Tutorial

Our Blossom garland is really this easy to assemble!  I did it with only one helper, and it cut my time in half (and I had a lot more fun).  However, if you happen to be short on time or helpers, we are happy to make it for you.  Check out our pre-made price here.
To assemble, simply stick an adhesive square in center of one blossom. Place another blossom on top, matching sides, as shown. Repeat this step until all blossoms are paired up.  Next, thread a large crafting needle with the bakers twine. Once threaded, push needle through the center hole of each blossom until all are threaded onto twine. Tie loops at the ends of twine. Separate and space all blossoms evenly along twine. Gently fold pedals of blossoms outward to shape.

airplane banner tutorial

Check out how easy the airplane banner is to assemble.  We like to keep things easy around here.  That way you can create and enjoy the party!  Of course, we will are happy to do the work for you.  All of our kits can be purchased pre-made.  It's just like having your cake and eating it too!  Who doesn't want that?

Here are the steps: Tie a loop at one end of string. Tie a knot 3 inches below loop. Thread string through hole of a propeller, pulling it down to knot. Score and fold 2 airplanes in half. Match and glue together bottom folded halves. Place string in center of plane, making sure that propeller is against the nose, as shown above. Spread glue on string and open sides of plane. Place third die-cut on top, matching sides. Press to secure. Bend wings to shape. Repeat steps to construct all planes along string. Tie another loop at the other end of string.
